My Motorola V600 lasted for a long time until until the microphone packed it. It had volume controls on the outside, but nothing else. I’m sure you could fine on on eBay.
My current SE W595 seems pretty indestructible too. Its a slider, but has never dialed on my once.

I have spent ages with my VX1 and its rubbish instructions but I still haven’t been able to set the date and time. This is important because some networks (T Mobile is one) won’t allow top-ups if the date and time are incorrect. The screen is so tiny that one may have to spend £1 at Poundland buying reading glasses although the tiny Samsung is even worse in this respect.

I am still looking for a rugged clamshell phone with NO EXTERNAL BUTTONS but I cannot find one. Instead the phone makers foist their rubbish, which will redial from ones pocket, onto the unsuspecting public.
